Training FAQ’s
1. How many hours of training do I need each year to meet licensing requirements?
--15 hours
2. Where do I find trainings that will meet DCFS licensing regulations?
--Trainings are available at many different places. Our training calendar, available on the website, posts trainings that are offered. These trainings are recognized as trainings that will meet licensing requirements.
3. When are training calendars available?
--New training calendars will be available on the website on the following quarterly schedule: January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and October 1st. Training calendars are mailed quarterly to all providers listed on our referral database.
4. How many hours will I receive for a training?
--Training hours (clock hours) are equal to the time you spend in the training.
5. What does CDA content mean?
--This is a means by which a provider interested in pursuing a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential can identify what content area is addressed by a training/workshop.
6. Where can I go for my CPR/First Aid training?
--You will find contact information for a list of agencies that provide CPR training in the training calendar.
7. What counties do you serve?
--We serve Winnebago, Stephenson, Boone, and Jo Daviess.
8. Do you have child care available during training?
--No, we are unable to provide child care during training, please make arrangements for your children’s care.
9. May I attend a workshop that I have not registered for?
--No, walk-ins are not accepted.
10. How early should I show up for a training?
--The YWCA facility will be open 15 minutes before a training begins.
11. May I pay for a workshop at the time I attend?
--No, our presenters are not able to accept payment.
12. Can I get a refund for a class I miss?
--Refund checks are given only under special circumstances. However, if you call to withdraw from a training a week or more before the training is held, you will be issued a payment credit that can be used as payment for a future CCS training.
13. When is the Special Care training offered?
--We offer Special Care trainings every quarter—when possible it will be offered once a month.
14. By what date must I take Special Care training?
--Family child care providers that have been in business for more than three years must complete the training by November 15, 2006.
--Family child care providers not in business for more than three years have three years from the time that they were licensed to meet this requirement.
--Center directors employed on February 15, 2004 must complete this training by February 15, 2007.
--Center directors employed after February 15, 2004 must complete this training within 36 months from the date appointed as director.
15. Are the Special Care classes available on video?
--No, this training is offered in
a classroom format.
